Hlawgar

Last week I went to Hlawgar Wildlife Park with my girlfriend and 3 people from work. They’re more like close friends than just colleagues from work. We actually planned to have a little picnic at the park. We bought food and drinks on the way but when we arrived there they had closed the park to long visits. We could only choose from a tour package that they offered which included food for the animals or we could bring our own food and go one round to feed the animals.

We ended up sitting at a little rest area at the entrance of the park. We ate our meals and took a little break. There were several stray dogs that came to us. My girlfriend has a soft spot for animals and every time she sees stray dogs or cats she has to get them food, and I love her for that. So she and I went to the restaurant and store nearby to get food and fed all the dogs. Some chickens came by to eat as well. It was ironic and funny in a way. People go to Hlawgar to feed monkeys and other animals. but we fed dogs and chickens.

After that, we came back into the city and stopped by The Central. Everyone bought some bread and coffee from Yugi Mugi then we just sat by the stairs and talked. The new normal really is new. However, I realized viruses can’t stop people from being human. We went out, socialized, spent time together, told jokes and laughed a lot. There were other people there too, just to sit by the stairs or take a little stroll while buying stuff from the stores. Sadly, everyone had to have masks on and distanced themselves from everyone except their own groups. Its so surreal, replace the surgical masks with gas masks and we get something straight out of a post-apocalyptic or dystopian movie.

I have a feeling that this nightmare is nearing its end, one way or another. People are going to move on. We have to live while we’re alive, that’s the only time we got.
