Progress

The Tonkinese

Progress takes time, but it’ll happen. I finished rewriting the screenplay I was provided into 3 versions this week. It’s been sent on for review and translation (since I can’t type in Burmese). The team sent the screenplay to an agent of an actress that they want to cast in the movie. Now we’re waiting to hear about the outcome from them. I haven’t received a definite schedule for the shooting to start but they did mention that it might be this coming March. With the coronavirus still in effect, albeit under a much more controlled state, we will have to take precautions.

In the meantime, I’m going to go back to writing my own screenplays. One step at a time, but I’m going to get there, to become a great storyteller. Not in the sense of someone else’s standards because I don’t have a certain pinnacle that I have to reach. I honestly don’t even know where to set the bar. I’ve read many books and watched many films in all of 26 years of my life and yet I can’t pin down the mark of a great writer that I have to reach. Maybe one day I’ll find the answer to that.

For now, the only goal for me is to become someone I can be proud of, not just a writer, but a storyteller that can weave real life experiences with emotion and fiction to convey a story that is true. A story that is true draws in the audience and leaves a memorable imprint in their lives. To put it in simple terms, I want to touch the lives of people, with characters and stories that they can relate to. I guess that’s the bar for me then, I’ll have this blog to come back and look upon one day, to see if I’ve made it there.
